Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Assistant Teacher to join our team at Sweetheart Daycare. This role supports the daycare’s mission to provide a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for children. The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Program Coordinator and Head Teacher to ensure the well-being and development of children through age-appropriate programs and activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage with children to provide a safe and educational environment.
• Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
• Ensure compliance with New York State Department of Children and Family Services regulations.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress.
• Follow the daycare’s policies and procedures regarding child safety and well-being.
• Support children’s emotional and social development through positive reinforcement and guidance.
• Assist in daily classroom duties, including meal distribution and cleanup.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Must complete initial medical statement and tuberculosis test.
• Undergo fingerprinting and background screening as per NYS Office of Children and Family Services regulations.
• Obtain clearance from the State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
